We are attorneys who practiced family law before transitioning our practice to one focused on mediation. Our goal to help people going through a family law dispute to negotiate a resolution and find peace. Mediation is often a part of the litigation process. Frequently, the Judge presiding over a matter will recommend that parties attempt to mediation a resolution. Other times, the parties may decided to participate in mediation before anyone has filed any action with the Court. In either circumstance, mediation allows the parties to retain control of the matter in dispute while exploring possible solutions.
Mediation is the resolution of a dispute by agreement crafted by the parties with assistance from someone with experience in the law. Mediation is premised on the belief that people in dispute are still competent to create an agreement. The people in dispute may need some help clarify the issues and reducing misunderstandings. However with some assistance, the parties can find an acceptable agreement. The process of dispute resolution does not need to be lengthy and expensive. The parties generally do not benefit from the combat of litigation. We strongly believe in these basic principles.
